The Fibonnaci numbers are named after Italian mathematician Leonardo of Pisa (son of Bonaccio or "filius Bonacci"), who discovered the sequence when studying a problem about rabbits. The answer to this puzzle was a sequence of numbers he discovered to be very special and applied in many other ways to nature (especially plants and animals). The best known situation is the flower seed heads and cones of pine trees. The poster displays a wide variety of these and stimulates discussion. 24 x 36 inches (840 x 600 mm) from Richard Phillips / Ashforth & Plummer / Tarquin Publications
